Books
I have compiled a list of my favourite reading matter, some of which are very important to me, others I dip into every now and again. Some are inspirational and others are just a good read.
1. Bill Bryson's Mother Tongue
This is a tremendous read, one that I have read over and over again. It's full of information and facts, put together in only the way Bill Bryson can.
2 . Bill Bryson's The Dictionary of Troublesome Words
A straight forward guide to the pitfalls and disputed issues in written English. (I tried to follow this book, with practice I will arrive there, someday).
3 . Bill Bryson's Dictionary for Writers and Editors
Indispensable, check it out.
4 . Larousse Gastronomique
The world's greatest cookery book in my opinion.
5 . Darrell Huff How to lie with statistics
This little book is a must for everyone.
6 . Niccolo Machiavelli The Prince
The best book on management there is.
7. Bill Bryson's A Short History of Nearly Everything
A wonderful read, interesting, and so good!
8. Simon Singh Big Bang, The most important scientific discovery of all time and why you need to know about
Made the big bang theory come to life! And with such clarity. a must have book for all. (sorry for the pun) Thank you Mr Singh for a truly remarkable book.
9. Stefan Gates. Gastronaut.
Filled with so much information, funny and a good read.
Two more little gems to add
10. Mark Vanhoenacker, Skyfaring. A journey with a pilot.
11. Mark Vanhoenacker, How to land a plane.
